At Sovereign Grace Community Church, our beliefs aren't a list of rules or traditions; they are convictions drawn carefully from Scripture that (hopefully) shape everything we do. We hold to the core doctrines of the Christian faith as taught throughout church history, and we're grateful to be part of a broader community of churches that shares those convictions.
Our full Statement of Faith follows the Sovereign Grace Churches Statement of Faith which walks through thirteen core areas of Christian doctrine, and can be read in full at webelieve.sovereigngrace.com. It covers:
In brief, we believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God. We believe that every person is a sinner in need of salvation, that Jesus Christ - fully God and fully man - died in our place and rose from the dead, and that through faith in him alone we are forgiven and made right with God. We also believe the Holy Spirit is active and at work in the lives of believers today, just as he has been since the early church.
Doctrinally, we are evangelical, reformed, and charismatic, meaning we hold to the historic Protestant faith, believe in God's sovereign grace in salvation, and affirm that the gifts of the Holy Spirit described in the New Testament are still given to believers today.
We also affirm the Nashville Statement, which articulates a biblical understanding of manhood, womanhood, marriage, and human sexuality.
SGCC is a member of Sovereign Grace Churches — a family of churches around the world united by a passion for the gospel and a commitment to planting and supporting local churches. Our partnership is personal and relational, not merely organizational.
Together, our churches share seven core values that guide how we do ministry. Sovereign Grace Churches also provide pastoral training through the Pastors College, widely-used worship music through Sovereign Grace Music, and resources like Living the Cross-Centered Life and Humility: True Greatness — books that have shaped our culture here at SGCC.
We're grateful for this partnership and gladly support it.
Have questions about what we believe? Feel free to reach out — we'd love to talk.
